Ink refill instructions for |
The ink in this cartridge is retained because the cartridge has an internal
sponge.
Step 1) Put the cartridge on some paper towels in an area where you can tolerate a spill.
Step 2) Drill a 1/16 inch hole in the top
of the cartridge. ( An alternative to drilling the hole is screw a very small screw into the vent hole on the side near the top and you can pull the vent cap out of the cartridge and insert the ink here.)
Step 3) For both cartridges, fill
syringe full of ink. It will take about 15 to 17 ml to fill this cartridge when empty.
Insert the needle fully through the hole.
Step 4) S-L-O-W-L-Y inject the ink into the sponge. If you inject the ink too fast it will foam inside the sponge and the air bubbles will cause lots of problems. Insert and withdraw the needle at different angles to expose the entire sponge to the ink.
Step 5) Set on a paper towel for an hour as a drip precaution. Expect a few drips. If it doesn't drip, the ink is not ready to print. It is not necessary to seal the hole except during long storage and transportation.
Follow the directions in the printer manual.
The ink is water-soluble. Use plenty of soap and warm water. You may also need to use Comet or bleach if the stains persist.
